Early Snow Predicted

The winding sheet is almost
around the yard —
leaves raked onto beds,
the birdbath upended like a toadstool.
Pale tomatoes the color of papayas
turn translucent in the cold.

A hidden bird sings a single note
like a bosun’s whistle
piping me inside.

I’m sitting here in 80 F. degree plus weather and you are speaking of snow…needless to say I found this poem quite interesting….of course I have only seen snow twice in 15 years where I live…Southern California. 😉 Enjoyed your poem.
